Before I ordered the Garmin Rino Radio I read many online reviews and tried to get a good understanding of the Garmin Rino Radio 120. I needed to know if it was a product worth purchasing.
I have had two other GPS units, plus an older GPS III from Garmin . I am really happy with the capabilities of that unit. The changes that Garmin has made since purchasing the GPS III are truly amazing.
The Garmin Rino Radio is loaded with so many features that I am learning about each day. The greatest benefits to me is having a gps and radio incorporated into one unit. This gives you less to carry.
The Position Reporting is also a HUGE deal for me. There are all sorts of potential uses for Position Reporting - from military operations, to seach and rescue, to rounding up your children on an outdoor camping trip.
Other Garmin Rino Radio features include the moving map, an alarm clock, calender, and other handy goodies. After the initial position fix, satellite aquisition is much quicker than my old GPS III. Between SA being switched off and the new WAAS system, I have been able to achieve accuracy (based on what the unit says, of course) of over nine feet.
The unit is light and compact, which I really appreciate. The battery usage is not as bad as I had figured.
Overall I think that the 120 is a fantastic new tool, with great new set of features. It is fairly cheap for a maping GPS and it comes at a great price for a unit that has both a radio and gps.
The Garmin Rino 120 price is a real steal.
